Riley Staal is an artist and sculptor making high-fire, functional, ceramic works that focus on form. Staal approaches function as a unique opportunity to insert art into mundane, everyday experiences. Intentionally spending time in nature has greatly informed her color palette and the organic forms her sculptures take. Staal expresses her profound experience of the sea, collecting shells, and returning to the same place every day as a form of worship; a ritualistic reverence that comes through in her work. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
